UMH hosts the film forum The Dark Side of the Moon, a space to rethink patriarchal narratives

On May 14, the Cinematheque at the La Valona building, on the Elche campus of the Miguel Hernández University, will host the film forum The Dark Side of the Moon, a cultural initiative that invites audiences to reframe patriarchal narratives by placing wise, complex, and powerful women at the center.

The event, which will begin at 7:00 p.m., offers a journey through stories that unsettle, resonate, and leave a lasting impression, opening up a space for critical reflection from a gender perspective through short films and the subsequent discussion.

The program includes the screening of four recent works:
• Sacra Lunaria (2024), directed by Mey Montero
• Las Medidoras (2025), directed by Gustavo R. Cuneo
• Medea a la Deriva (2024), directed by Mary Cruz Leo
• El Mal Donat (2024), directed by Alfons Casal and Héctor Mas

Following the screenings, a discussion session with the audience will take place.

Admission will be free until full capacity is reached. In addition, those interested can register in advance through the following form: https://forms.gle/fgLZ4jyGezJ4tLA29

The film forum is coordinated by Anastasia Téllez Infantes (UMH) and María Amparo Calabuig Puig (UM), and is co-organized with Festival de Cortometrajes Helena Cortesina, Unidad de Igualdad UMH, Grupo de Investigación Economía, Cultura y Género (ECULGE), Observatorio de las Masculinidades UMH, CONCULTDIOSA I UMH, Centro Interdisciplinar de Estudios de Género (CIEG), Mujeres por la Igualdad and AEPA.
